   Can I Drive in UK?

If you are coming from South Asian countries


If you are coming to UK from South Asians countries you could drive in UK if you have a full international driving license issued from your country. You could drive for up to 12 months using your international driving license. After 12 months of your stay in UK you can only drive in UK if you have a valid UK driving license.

If you are coming from other European and Western countries


If you are coming to UK from European and Western countries you could drive in UK if you have a valid driving license issued from your country.

If you become resident in UK you can drive with your driving license for 3 years after that you could exchange that with the UK driving license or you could register with the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA).

You could also apply for UK driving license if you are resident in UK for 185 days in 12 months prior to your driving license application..

Other general things needed for driving in UK


You should make sure you have a car insurance that covers third party liabilities while driving in UK.

The car you are intending to drive should have the valid road tax disc in the wind screen corner.

The MOT certificate for the car you are driving.

You should be familiar to the UK driving standards, traffic rules, signs and signals.
